Solufleece – a dissolvable fabric

Solufleece was something else new to me which I discovered on my textile course. It is a dissolvable fabric, thin and papery which you embellish your bits and pieces onto, then you rinse it and as if by magic the backing fabric disappears and you are left with the embellishings and floating stitches, all rather wonderful.

You have to think about placing elements so that they are connected to either bits of fabric or with stitches so that they don’t unravel when you dissolve the fabric.

Some of my samples are seen below, a collection of mushrooms and a slightly abstract work based on honesty pods, this design I particularly like and it will reappear in other samples of my work.
